Ogeechee OBGYN is now offering Pro-Nox (also known as laughing gas) for pain and anxiety relief!

What is Pro-Nox?
Pro-Nox is Nitrous Oxide, also known as “laughing gas”. It is a safe and commonly used sedative gas.

Why are we offering it?
We understand that some procedures can cause anxiety or discomfort. Pro-Nox can help you feel more relaxed, calm, and comfortable, as well as reduce mild to moderate pain

Is it safe?
Yes! Nitrous oxide is one of the safest forms of sedation used in outpatient medicine. You will be monitored throughout your procedure, and you will be able to stop using the gas at any time if you feel uncomfortable.

How does it work?

  • A small mask is placed over your nose for you to inhale the Nitrous Oxide
  • You administer the Pro-Nox yourself by taking breaths through the nosepiece as needed
  • Nitrous Oxide works quickly; you usually feel relaxed, lightheaded, warm, or even giddy within 2-3 minutes
  • Once the procedure is over, you will breathe pure oxygen for a few minutes to clear it from your system

Will this put me to sleep?
No, you will be awake at all times and will be able to respond to questions or directions

Can I drive home after I used Pro-Nox?
Yes. Nitrous oxide is one of the safest forms of sedation used in outpatient medicine. You will be monitored throughout your procedure, and you will be able to stop using the gas at any time if you feel uncomfortable.
